Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Any malfunction in ABS electrical or mechanical components is indicated by the ABS warning lamp on the instrument cluster. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are indicated by ABS warning lamp flashing patterns. These flashing patterns may be displayed as follows:

1. Locate ABS check connector below driver side of instrument panel. Check connector is blue with three pins.

2. Attach jumper wire to G/R terminal, Fig. 4, and ground it to chassis.
3. When ground is made, ABS warning lamp will begin to flash if trouble codes exist.
4. Count number of flashes from ABS warning lamp. If there is more than one system fault, only the first recognized flashing pattern will be obtained.
