Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Fluid Leaks Check

1. With the engine off, check the complete power steering system (all parts where power steering fluid is present) for evidence of leakage.
Clean all parts as necessary so that leakage can be visually detected.
2. Start the engine and let run at idle speed.

NOTICE: Do not hold the steering wheel full-left or full-right (against the stops) for longer than 15 seconds. Prolonged operation in this condition is harmful to the power steering pump.

3. Turn the steering wheel full-left and full-right several times.
4. Check all power steering parts for leaks, giving particular attention to hoses, all connections, and to shafts of steering gear and power steering pump.
5. Turn off engine.
