HVAC Mode Control Switch





This bulletin provides information related to 2001 MY Sportage HVAC Mode Control Switch. On 2001 MY vehicles produced before 6/29/00, an internal switch contact may break off. When this occurs, air flow selections cannot be made.

To correct this condition, the internal switch contact has been revised to eliminate breakage.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:





1. Open cup holder, grasp center panel assembly as illustrated in photo, and pull to release panel assembly from retaining clips.





2 Disconnect four (4) HVAC control electrical connectors and remove center panel.





3. Remove mode control switch from center panel by removing two (2) screws, and knob. Discard old switch and knob.





4. Install new mode control switch with the two (2) screws, then install the new knob.





5. Reconnect the four (4) HVAC electrical connectors.





6. Reinstall center panel to dash.

7. Check and confirm proper HVAC mode control operation.

AFFECTED PRODUCTION RANGE:
2001 MY Sportage vehicles produced before 6/29/00.
