Sorento Battery Replacement

This bulletin provides information relating to the installation of a Genuine Kia Replacement Battery in Sorento.

When replacing the original equipment (OEM) battery with a Genuine Kia Replacement Battery (Interstate), the battery tray must be modified slightly.

Modification Procedure:





1. Locate the outer hold-down tabs on the battery tray as shown in photo.





2. Using an adjustable wrench (crescent wrench), close the jaws of the wrench over the outer hold-down tabs, and bend the tabs to a vertical position.





3. Set new battery into tray and tilt battery toward fender to install hold-down plate.

Note:
The hold-down plate must be positioned while the battery is tilted to allow the plate to index both into the tray and into the hold-down slot on the bottom of the battery case.

4. When hold-down plate is in proper position, install hold-down plate bolt.
