Instuments - Overhead Console and FATC Display

SOURCE: KIA Technician Times Volume 5 Issue 5, 2002

TITLE: Overhead Console and FATC Display

APPLIES TO: Sorento

SERVICE TIP:

Depending on the model and options, Sorento comes with temperature, barometric air pressure and altitude indications in the overhead console as well as with temperature readout in the FATC control head display if so equipped.

The temperature and altitude displays show either metric or US standard units, and can be easily switched between the two. (Note that barometric pressure only shows in hpa; see page 4-68 of the Owners Manual)

Whenever the battery has been disconnected (or discharged) and/or whenever the "memory" fuse in the engine compartment fuse box has been pulled up (as happens during transportation or storage), the temperature and altitude displays will automatically default to the metric settings. Both can easily be reset to display US standard units by following the steps on page 4-62 and 4-95 of the Sorento Owners Manual.

Before initial delivery and anytime you return the vehicle to the customer after a related repair, please make sure the US standard units (degrees Fahrenheit and feet) are selected/displayed.
