Subject
Parking lamps On and Battery Discharge Intermittently Overnight

- Description

Some Spectra model vehicles may exhibit a concern of park lamps illuminating while left parked overnight with the headlamp switch in the ON position. If the park lamps illuminate while the vehicle is left unattended, battery discharge and a No Crank/No Start condition may result. This concern may be caused by the Body Control Module logic which commands the park lamps on without input from the drives. A countermeasure BCM with improved logic is available to correct this concern. Please verify a customer complaint on the repair order of either Park Lamps On or a No Crank/No Start condition due to a discharged battery. If no other cause for battery discharge can be determined, please replace the BCM.

NOTE
The Body Control Module (BCM) logic has been improved to correct this concern as of 8/8/2008. If a BCM has been replaced on the vehicle prior to this date, even if it was P/N 91950 2F830, the BCM will still require replacement with the newest level part. Locate the label shown below which is affixed to the BCM. Compare the first 3 numbers in the lot number and the third to last digit for the year to determine weather the BCM was manufactured before or after countermeasure.
