Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION

IMPORTANT: The testing and inspection procedures for the primary coil side has been eliminated by Kia; however, the procedures still exist in the OE printed service manual. Disregard the primary coil diagnostic procedures. The resistance of the primary coil in the assembly is not measurable because a power transistor is built into it. The diagnostic procedure for the secondary coil in the coil assembly is correct. For more information see Kia TSB KT2005030301





1. Measurement of the secondary coil resistance
Measure the resistance between the high-voltage terminals of the ignition coil

Standard value 13.0 ± 2.6 (kOhm)
