Alternator: Service and Repair





Replacement

1. Disconnect the negative cable (A) from the battery.




2. Remove the engine cover (A).




3. Remove the air duct (A) and the air cleaner assembly (B).




4. Using the wrench turn the tensioner counterclockwise and loosen. Then remove the drive belt (A).




5. Remove the drive belt pulley (A).




6. Remove the oil level gauge (A).

Tightening torque :
9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)





7. Remove the power steering pump without disconnecting the hoses and lay it one side.




8. Remove the alternator.
(1) Disconnect the alternator connector (A) and cable (B) from the 'B' terminal.




(2) Loosen the alternator mounting bolts (A).

Tightening torque :
29.4 - 41.2 N.m (3.0 - 4.2 kgf.m, 21.7 - 30.4 lb-ft)





(3) For get an access of alternator removal, remove the alternator bracket (A) from the engine.

Tightening torque :
B: 29.4 - 41.2 N.m (3.0 - 4.2 kgf.m, 21.7 - 30.4 lb-ft)
C: 19.6 - 26.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.7 kgf.m, 14.5 - 19.5 lb-ft)





(4) Remove the alternator from the vehicle.
9. Installation is reverse order of removal.
