Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

NOTE: The removal of the sensors from the exhaust system must only be carried out when the engine is cold.


REMOVE
1. Disconnect the battery negative lead.

2. Disconnect the electrical plugs (2) from the sensors.
3. Unscrew and remove the sensors (3) from the two exhaust down pipes.

REFIT
1. Coat the threads of the sensors with anti-seize compound.

CAUTION: To be sure that the efficiency of the sensor is not impaired, DO NOT allow anti-seize compound to come into contact with the sensor nose.

2. Screw in the sensor and tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft lb) using special tool LST134, or equivalent.
3. Connect the electrical plugs and battery lead.
