Cold Start
14/2/95C855
SUBJECT:
Cold Start
MODEL:
Range Rover Classic, Discovery, Defender
AFFECTED VEHICLES:
All 1993, 1994, 1995 Canadian vehicles in service. All vehicles in dealer stock, and new vehicle deliveries until further notice.
DETAIL
Factory engineers have developed improved fueling tunes to enhance starting performance in extreme cold.
These tunes reduce the amount of fuel injected into the engine at temperatures below -5°C (-20°F).
In addition to the updated tune, engineering have also identified that a high level of cranking speed is critical to starting. As a result an oil change to 5W/30 or 5W/40 engine oil is required (unless the vehicle recently had an oil change at PDI in line with TIB # 12/07/94/US).
For vehicles covered by this campaign, follow the procedure below.
Note:
Refer to Service Bulletin G95-003 for further details on the logistics of this Service Action.
