Assembly

1. Install new latch as follows:

^ Transfer linkages from old latch to new latch.

NOTE:
Take care to ensure that the linkages are oriented in the same way as removed.

^ Guide latch and linkage into position in door.

^ Connect interior release cable.

^ Secure latch with three screws.

^ Install sill button on linkage.





CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the connectors and wiring, they MUST be oriented as shown in Figure 9.

2. Connect two modified electrical connectors.

3. Secure connectors to door using three holes as shown in Figure 9.

4. Install drivers side exterior door handle as follows:

^ Install new clip (MTC9290) to door handle.

^ Slip the door handle into the front mounting hole and pivot the rear end inward.

^ Connect key linkage to door handle.

^ Place handle into position on door and slide rearward to align with screw hole and install screw.

5. Install exterior release linkage.

CAUTION:
Depending on door latch switch state, the doors may lock when the battery is connected. Be sure to have a door open before connecting the battery.

6. Connect battery and test operation.

^ Make sure window does not contact wiring when raised or lowered.

^ Test key operation.

^ Test sill button operation.

NOTE:
If the central door locking system does not work with the sill button, check two-cavity door latch connector.

^ Test interior release operation. Test exterior release operation.

^ Pull the interior release handle to the full extent of travel. If the cable disconnects from the lever, Refer to TIB H377 and repair.

7. Install water curtain. Repair or replace if required.

8. Install inner door panel as per WSM section 76.

9. Reset sunroof, windows and radio code.

10. Synchronize remote.
