Vehicle - Lift Standards & Approved Suppliers
Bulletin: TE95-0O2Section: Tools & Equipment
Date: 2/7/95
Model: ALL
Applicable to: USA/CND
This bulletin is a revision of one previously issued on 6/3/93, bulletin number TE93-001.
LRNA has developed the following standards for use when selecting lifts for Land Rover products. Using unapproved lifts can be dangerous for the Technician and/or damage the vehicle.
Companies that are listed below supply automotive lifts that meet the standards. Contact them directly for dealer net pricing, lease/financing plans, delivery and installation information. (Lift purchases are not handled through LRNA.)
4 Post Lifts
- Required to meet minimum standards
- Approved for all Land Rover products
The 4 post lift requirements for your dealership/Land Rover Centre remain unchanged. (Please refer to the Land Rover Dealership Planning Guide to identify your requirements.) A 4 post lift is the ONLY RECOMMENDED LIFT for use with Range Rover Classic, Discovery and Defender. We strongly recommend that one is also used for Range Rover 4.0 SE, although we do now approve an alternative lift as described later in this bulletin.
The 4 post lift is the only lift that counts towards satisfying lift requirements detailed in the Land Rover Dealership Planning Guide.

2 Post Lifts
- Does not count toward minimum lift requirement
- Limited approval for Range Rover 4.0 SE (see below)
LRNA has approved the use of the following twinpost asymmetric lift for the new Range Rover 4.0 SE ONLY. This approval DOES NOT include Discovery, Defender, Range Rover Classic or any previous Land Rover products, nor does it change the 4 post lift requirements for your dealership/Land Rover Centre.
Adding a 2 post lift will limit the flexibility in your shop and in some cases take up space that will be needed for a future requirement. For this reason you should very carefully consider all of the potential downfalls before installing a 2 post lift.

SAFE USE OF THE TWIN POST LIFT
The Rotary SPOA9 is provided with a spotting plate which aids correct location of the vehicle.
To prevent damage to the vehicle frame always use the rubber pad adapters provided with the lift.
Each technician should view the training video provided by Rotary before using the lift.
Use of the Rotary SPOA9 lift is restricted to service operations which do not require the removal of major components (engine, gearbox, transfer box, axles). These operations must be completed on the 4 post lifts already installed.
2 post lifts must not be used for any operation involving torquing of suspension components. This must be done on a 4 post lift to ensure correct bush alignment.
Lifting Points - Range Rover 4.0 SE
The correct frame contact points are indicated by the X's on the illustration. DO NOT Lift on the radius arms or composite trailing arms.
