Auxiliary Climate Control - Rear Air Conditioning

Auxiliary Climate Control - Rear Air Conditioning

DESCRIPTION

Introduction
The auxiliary climate control system provides additional air conditioning for the second and third row seat occupants. On some vehicles, a cool box is incorporated in the tunnel console between the two front seats.

The auxiliary climate control system is controlled by the Automatic Temperature Control Module (ATCM) in conjunction with the Auxiliary Climate Control Module (ACCM).

OPERATION

Power Distribution
Feed from the positive battery terminal (C0192) is supplied to fusible link 17E and fuse 22E (C0632) on an R wire. Both are located in the Battery Junction Box (BJB). Fuse 22E is connected to the rear blower motor relay, which is also located in the BJB. The ground path for the relay coil (C0570) is controlled by the ACCM (C0695) on a UR wire.

Fusible link 17E is connected to fuse 51P of the Central Junction Box (CJB) (C0583) by an NR wire. Fuse 51P (C0585) provides a constant battery feed to the solenoid valve (C2660) on an GK wire.

Automatic Temperature Control Module
The Automatic Temperature Control Module (ATCM) (C1629) provides power feeds to the ACCM (C0695), the temperature blend stepper motor (C2132) and the distribution stepper motor (C2135) on OG wires.

The ATCM is also connected to all three components via the Local Interconnect Network (LIN) Bus on R wires. The ACCM uses messages relayed on the LIN bus to control the position of both the temperature blend and distribution stepper motors.

Both the temperature blend (C2132) and distribution (C2135) stepper motors are provided ground paths on B wires.

Auxiliary Climate Control Module
The Auxiliary Climate Control Module (ACCM) controls operation of the rear air conditioning system as follows:

Rear Blower Motor
Operation of the rear blower motor is controlled by the ACCM via the rear blower motor control module and the rear blower motor relay.

The ACCM (C0695) provides a ground path for the rear blower motor relay coil (C0570) on a UR wire. The energised relay (C0570) provides a battery feed to the rear blower motor (C0023) on an NU wire.

To control the speed of the rear blower motor, the ACCM (C0695) provides a Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) signal to the rear blower motor control module (C2282) on an R wire. The control module regulates the voltage flow across the rear blower motor in relation to the PWM signal. The control module is connected to the motor by a BU wire, and is provided a ground path on a B wire.

The ACCM (C0695) provides a second feed to the control module on a G wire. This feed is used by the ACCM to confirm the speed of the rear blower motor.

Solenoid Valve
The solenoid valve (C2660) receives a battery feed via fuse 51P of the CJB (C0585) on a GK wire. To energise the solenoid and open the valve, the ACCM (C0695) provides a ground path on a U wire.
