Situation:
A customer may report that a two-chime warning occurs and that a flashing amber warning lamp turning to a steady amber lamp is illuminated. The warning message "Suspension Fault" will also appear. Investigation using the Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) or the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) may reveal one of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC):

A software calibration sensitivity issue can incorrectly report a low current at the cross-link valve in cold conditions. The DTCs may be logged under these conditions.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

INSTALL LATEST RIDE LEVEL CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE TUNE

1. If WDS has patch file 3 (WDS CD13 - Patch File 3 (or later)) is installed or IDS DVD 100 with patch file 1 (or later) is being used proceed to step 6.

NOTE:
A software patch installation help file located on GTR provides instructions for the patch file installation process and could take up to six minutes to download depending on connection speed. For information on how to confirm that the patch file has been correctly installed onto WDS/IDS, refer to the applicable Patch Process Help File located in GTR. Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows:

GTR Home > NAS > Diagnostics/LA - LR3/2006 > Patch Files > "Patch Process Help File - T4WDS or IDS" link.

2. Logon to GTR from an internet connected PC and download the WDS/IDS Patch Process Help File as follows:

^ Select 'Home' from the menu at the top of the main page.

^ From the menus on the left of the page, select 'Diagnostics' as the 'Information Type' and select the relevant model and model year.

^ From the 'All Information' results, select 'Patch Files'.

^ Click the appropriate 'Patch Process Help File - T4WDS or IDS' file link.

NOTE:
This could take up to twenty minutes to download depending on connection speed.

4. Install the software patch file 'WDS CD13 - Patch File 3' (or later) into T4WDS or 'IDS DVD 100 - Patch File 1' (or later) into IDS.

5. Verify that WDS/IDS successfully restarts.

NOTE:
A Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis and module configuration.

6. Connect the diagnostic equipment to the vehicle and begin a WDS or IDS session.

7. Determine the current software tune level of the Ride Level Control Module as follows:

^ Enter the vehicle details.

^ Select the 'Vehicle Configuration' tab.

^ Select 'Module Information'

^ Select 'Network integrity test'

Note:
The software tune level part number displayed on the screen.

NOTE:

During module configuration, the on-screen software part number information that WDS/IDS will display can be checked against the software part number noted in step 7 above. If the same software part number is displayed, the vehicle already has the desired tune level and the software download process can be discontinued.

CAUTION:
The suspension ride height must be calibrated when the Ride Level Control Module software is updated on vehicles prior to VIN 5A352042 with previous software NNV503111 installed.

8. Configure the Ride Level Control Module software as follows:

^ Return to the Vehicle Configuration' screen and select 'Module Configuration'.

^ Select 'Configure Existing Modules'.

^ From the sub-menu, select 'Ride Level Control Module'.

^ Click the [Check Mark] tick-box to continue and follow the on-screen instructions.

^ Note the on-screen software part number information that WDS/IDS will display.

9. Compare the Ride Level Control Module software part number displayed on WDS/IDS to the software part number noted in step 7 above.

10. If the same software part number is displayed, terminate the tune download.

11. If a different software part number is displayed, complete the tune download to update the software.

12. After the tune download is complete, respond to the WDS/IDS prompt to calibrate the air suspension ride height as follows:

^ Click [Check Mark] tick-box to continue if the VIN is prior to 5A352042 and the previous software level NNV503111 was installed.

^ Click [X] tick-box to skip prompt if the VIN is 5A352042 or later and the previous software level installed was not NNV503111.

13. Exit the WDS/IDS session and disconnect the diagnostic equipment from the vehicle.
