Water Pump: Service and Repair






Coolant Pump
This is a "Trustmark Authoring Standards (TAS) Repair Procedure"
- TAS style procedures can be identified by steps that have no accompanying step text and the magenta color of the electrical connectors and fasteners such as nuts, bolts, clamps or clips.
- TAS removal and installation procedures use a sequence of color illustrations to indicate the order to be followed when removing/disassembling or installing/assembling a component.
- Many of the TAS procedures will have the installation information within the removal steps.
- The TAS color illustrations use a variety of symbols to indicate important details of the procedures. It is important to understand these symbols in order to properly used the TAS procedures.

Removal
1 Remove the cover and disconnect the battery ground cable.

2 Remove the engine cover.
For additional information, refer to Engine Cover - 3.2L Service and Repair
3 Remove the battery tray.
For additional information, refer to Battery Tray Service and Repair
4 Remove the air cleaner assembly.
For additional information, refer to Air Cleaner Service and Repair
5 Drain the coolant.
For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding Service and Repair




6 Remove the A/C compressor, lower support bracket.




7 Using suitable tools, release the accessory drive belt tension.




8 Remove the power steering pump support bracket




9 Release the power steering pump.





NOTE:
Discard the gasket.

10 Remove the coolant pump.

Installation

NOTE:
Install a new gasket.
1 Install the coolant pump.
Torque to: 17 Nm

CAUTION: The accessory drive belt must be in position before the power steering pump is installed.
2 Install the power steering pump.
Torque to: 25 Nm
3 Install the power steering pump support bracket.
Torque to: 25 Nm
4 Install the accessory drive belt.
5 Install the A/C compressor, lower support bracket.
Torque to: 25 Nm
6 Install the air cleaner assembly.

7 Install the battery tray.

8 Install the engine cover.

9 Connect the battery ground cable and install the cover.

10 Fill and bleed the cooling system.
