Introduction

Some customers may notice that the rear door opening weatherstrip pulls away from the body either at the top of the opening or on the side by the door striker. Service parts have been modified to correct this condition.

^ 2003 - 2006 model year GX 470 vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VIN shown below.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.





Required Tools & Material

Repair Procedure





1. Remove the rear door opening weatherstrip and discard.

Note:
The weatherstrip CANNOT be reused.





2. Clean the non-dried sealer and dirt from the body pinch weld with Kent(TM) Acrysol.

3. Apply 3M Super Weatherstrip





Adhesive to the body pinch weld and the weatherstrip as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:
Apply adhesive to both sides in the apply zone only.

4. Install the NEW weatherstrip.

NOTE:





^ Begin installation of the NEW weatherstrip at the point shown in the illustration.

^ Make any necessary adjustments quickly before the adhesive dries.
