Air conditioning compressor drive belt tension should be checked using a standard belt tension gauge placed at the arrow in Fig. 5. A new belt should check at 175 lbs. ± 5 lbs. A used belt should check at 115 lbs. ± 20 lbs. A new belt is a belt that has not been on a running engine longer than five minutes.
