Starter Motor: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and disable airbag system as described under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE/AIRBAG SYSTEM DISARMING. then remove battery and battery tray.
2. Disconnect the following electrical connectors:
a. Noise filter.
b. Ignitor.
c. High tension cord for ignition coil.
d. Ground strap.
3. Disconnect harness clamp, then remove two bolts and igniter bracket.
4. Disconnect starter wires, remove starter attaching bolts and starter.
5. Reverse procedure to install, torque starter attaching bolts to 29 ft. lbs.
