Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair





COMPONENTS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL:





1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.





2. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE.
- Disconnect the following hoses:
- PS air hose from No.4 timing belt cover
- PCV hose from No.2 cylinder head cover
- Loosen the 2 hose clamps and remove the air connector pipe together with hoses.





3. REMOVE VOLUME AIR FLOW (VAF) METER FROM AIR CLEANER.
- Disconnect the VAF meter connector.
- Disconnect the wire clip from the bracket.





- Remove the 4 nuts, bolt, VAF meter and gasket.

VAF METER INSPECTION:





- Check that the honey-combed is neither deformed nor damaged.
- If necessary, replace the VAF meter.

INSTALLATION:





1. INSTALL VAF METER TO AIR CLEANER.
- Install a new gasket and the VAF meter with the 4 nuts and a bolt.

Torque: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)





- Connect the VAF meter connector.
- Install the wire clip to the bracket.





2. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE.
- Install the air connector pipe with 2 hose clamps.
- Connect the following hoses:
- PS air hose to No.4 timing belt cover.
- PCV hose to No.2 cylinder head cover.
3. CONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.
