Transmission/Transaxle Replacement

Fig. 15 Transmission Removal & Installation Diagram:

Refer to Fig. 15. when replacing transmission.
1. Disable airbag system as described under Technician Safety Information.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Remove oil level gauge and oil filler tube.
4. Disconnect throttle cable and remove exhaust pipe.
5. Remove rear center floor crossmember brass.
6. Remove propeller shaft and heat insulator, then disconnect shift control rod.
7. Disconnect all electrical connectors from transmission.
8. Disconnect two oil cooler lines, and remove six torque converter mounting bolts.
9. Jack up transmission and remove rear transmission mount.
10. Remove starter, then remove nine transmission bolts and transmission.
11. Reverse procedure to install. Refer to Specifications for torque values. Rearm Air bag system.
