Condenser Fan: Testing and Inspection

CONDENSER FAN

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT CONDENSER FAN OPERATION
Inspect the fan operation, as shown in the chart below.




Test conditions:
Engine coolant temperature "Below 82 °C (180 °F)"
If operation is not as specified, proceed next inspection.




2. INSPECT CONDENSER FAN MOTOR OPERATION
a. Remove air inlet duct.
b. Disconnect the 2 connector.
c. Connect battery and ammeter.
d. Check that the fan rotates smoothly, and then check the reading on the ammeter.

Specified amount: 9.2 - 11.0 A at 20 °C (68 °F)

If operation is not as specified, replace the fan motor.




3. INSPECT COOLING FAN COMPUTER WIRE HARNESS
a. Remove air inlet duct.
b. Disconnect the 2 connector.
c. Inspect the connector on wire harness side.
d. Measure voltage between terminals 1 and 3.

Voltage: 9 - 14 V

If operation is not as specified, check the fuse, relay and wire harness.
If operation is as specified, replace the cooling fan computer.
