^ November 20, 2003: The Parts Information table and the image illustrating the brake pads and shims have been updated.

The previous TSIB should be discarded.

Introduction

Some 2001 - 2003 model year LS 430 vehicles may experience brake groan noise during brake application. The front brake pad material and anti-squeal shim shape have been changed to prevent this condition.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:

This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Resurface the front disc brake rotor using the On-Car Brake Lathe.





2. Install the countermeasure brake pad kit.





Be sure to install new bolts after removing the installation bolts from the brake caliper as indicated in the Repair Manual.
