Component Tests and General Diagnostics

HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM

INSPECTION







1. INSPECT HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL ACTUATOR RESISTANCE
a. Check that continuity exists between terminals 2 and 5.
b. Check that resistance exists between terminals, as shown in the chart.
If resistance value is not as specified, replace the actuator.







2. INSPECT HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL ECU CIRCUIT
a. Disconnect the connector from the ECU and inspect the connector on the wire harness side, as shown.
If circuit is not as specified, perform the inspection.







b. Connect the connector to the ECU and inspect the connector, as shown in the table.
If the circuit is not as specified, replace the ECU.




Reference INSPECTION USING OSCILLOSCOPE

HINT: The correct waveform is as shown in the illustration.







3. INSPECT VEHICLE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR
a. Connect 3 dry batteries of 1.5 V in series.
b. Connect SHB terminal to the batteries' positive (+) terminal, and SHG terminal to the batteries' negative (-) terminal, apply about 4.5 V between SHG - SHG terminals.

NOTE: Do not apply voltage of 6 V or more to terminals VGS and GGND.

c. Check the output voltage of SHRR and SHG terminals.
