HEATER GLOW PLUG (for 2GR-FSE)
REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
3. REMOVE ENGINE REAR COVER
4. DISCONNECT HEATER BLOWER WIRE
a. Remove the 2 grommets.
b. Remove the 2 nuts while using your hands to make sure the terminal directions (angles) of the 2 wires do not change.
c. Remove the 2 plate washers and disconnect the 2 wires.
HINT: Before removing the 2 plate washers and disconnecting the 2 wires, check the terminal directions (angles) of the 2 wires so that they can be reinstalled in the same direction.
d. Remove the 2 wave washers.
5. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS GLOW PLUG
a. Remove the glow plug.
HINT: Collect the engine coolant in a container.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL WATER BY-PASS GLOW PLUG
a. Install the 2 glow plugs.
Torque: 15.4 N.m (157 kgf.cm, 11 ft.lbf)
b. Install the 2 wave washers.
2. CONNECT HEATER BLOWER WIRE
a. Connect the 2 wires.
HINT: Set the terminal directions (angles) of the 2 wires to the positions they were in before disconnection.
b. Install the 2 plate washers.
c. Install the 2 nuts while using your hands to make sure the terminal directions (angles) of the 2 wires do not change.
Torque: 2.7 N.m (28 kgf.cm, 24 in.lbf)
d. Install the 2 grommets.
HINT: Tighten the grommets until a click is felt.
3. REMOVE ENGINE REAR COVER
4. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
6. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
7. WARM UP ENGINE
8. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
9. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
