AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM: 46: Air Mix Damper Control Servo Motor Circuit (Driver Side)

DTC 46 - Air Mix Damper Control Servo Motor Circuit (Driver Side)

DESCRIPTION

The damper servo sub-assembly (air mix damper control servo motor) is controlled by the A/C amplifier and moves the air mix damper to the desired position.
HINT: This DTC is displayed for only limited grade (right/left independent temperature control system).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTUATOR CHECK
(a) Operate the A/C control panel to enter the actuator check mode Actuator Check.
(b) Press the DEF switch to enter the step operation.
(c) Check the air flow temperature by hand.






Result:






C -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
A -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the damper servo sub-assembly.





(b) Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 4 and the battery negative (-) lead to terminal 5, then check that the lever turns to "COLD" side smoothly.
(c) Connect the battery positive (+) lead to terminal 5 and the battery negative (-) lead to terminal 4, then check that the lever turns to "HOT" side smoothly.
OK:
Motor operates smoothly.
NG -- REPLACE DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY - A/C AMPLIFIER)
(a) Check for open and short in the harness and the connector between the damper servo sub-assembly (air mix damper control servo motor) and the A/C amplifier Electronic Circuit Inspection Procedure.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK DTC
(a) Start up the DTC check mode.
(b) Check that DTC 46 is not output again.

B -- SYSTEM IS OK
A -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER
