Refrigerant Pressure Sensor / Switch: Testing and Inspection








AIR CONDITIONING: PRESSURE SWITCH:

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. INSPECT PRESSURE SENSOR
(a) Pressure sensor
(1) Install the manifold gauge set Refrigerant.





(2) Connect the three 1.5 V dry cell battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1. Then connect the voltmeter's positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1. Measure the voltage.
OK:
The voltage changes according to refrigerant pressure, as shown in the graph.
If the voltage is not as specified, replace the pressure sensor.
2. INSPECT LOW PRESSURE SENSOR
(a) Low pressure sensor
(1) Install the manifold gauge set Refrigerant.





(2) Connect the three 1.5 V dry cell battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1. Then connect the voltmeter's positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1. Measure the voltage.
OK:
The voltage changes according to refrigerant pressure, as shown in the graph.
If the voltage is not as specified, replace the low pressure sensor.
