Installation
2GR-FE EXHAUST: EXHAUST PIPE: INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2) Installation
2. INSTALL EXHAUST FRONT PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the exhaust pipe front and a new gasket with 2 new nuts.
Torque: 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft-lbf)
(b) Connect the oxygen sensor connector (Bank 2).
3. INSTALL NO. 3 EXHAUST FRONT PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Install 2 new gaskets and the No. 3 exhaust front pipe sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 new nuts.
Torque: 56 Nm (571 kgf-cm, 41 ft-lbf)
4. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1) Installation
5. INSTALL EXHAUST CENTER PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Inspect the compression spring.
(1) Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Minimum length:
41.5 mm (1.634 in.)
HINT: If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.
(b) Fully insert a new gasket to the No. 3 exhaust front pipe sub-assembly.
(c) Using a plastic hammer, uniformly strike the gasket so that the gasket and No. 3 exhaust front pipe sub-assembly are properly fit.
NOTICE:
- Be careful with the installation direction of the gasket.
- Do not reuse the gasket.
- To ensure a proper seal, do not use the exhaust pipe to press the gasket onto the No. 3 exhaust front pipe sub-assembly.
(d) Install the damper with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf)
(e) Connect the exhaust center pipe to connect the exhaust pipe supports.
(f) Tighten the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.
Torque: 48 Nm (490 kgf-cm, 35 ft-lbf)
6. INSTALL EXHAUST TAIL PIPE BAFFLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Align the keyway of the exhaust tail pipe baffle sub-assembly with the protruding part of the exhaust tail pipe assembly as shown in the illustration.
(b) Using a plastic hammer, uniformly tap in the exhaust tail pipe baffle sub-assembly.
7. INSTALL EXHAUST TAIL PIPE ASSEMBLY
(a) Inspect the compression spring.
(1) Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Minimum length:
40.5 mm (1.594 in.)
HINT: If the free length is less than the minimum, replace the compression spring.
(b) Fully insert a new gasket to the exhaust center pipe assembly.
(c) Using a plastic hammer, uniformly strike the gasket so that the gasket and front exhaust pipe center are properly fit.
NOTICE:
- Be careful with the installation direction of the gasket.
- Do not reuse the gasket.
- To ensure a proper seal, do not use the exhaust pipe tail to press the gasket onto the exhaust pipe center.
(d) Connect the exhaust pipe tail to the exhaust pipe supports.
(e) Tighten the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.
Torque: 48 Nm (490 kgf-cm, 35 ft-lbf)
8. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
9. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
10. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
