DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

1. READ DATA LIST
HINT: Using the intelligent tester's DATA LIST allows switch, actuator and other item values to be read without removing any parts. Reading the DATA LIST early in troubleshooting is one way to save time.





(a) Connect the intelligent tester with CAN VIM to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Read the DATA LIST.

2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST
HINT: Using the intelligent tester to perform ACTIVE TEST allows the operation or effects of actuators, relays, VSVs, and other items to be tested without removing any parts. This non intrusive inspection can be very useful as intermittent conditions or operation may be discovered before parts or wiring are disturbed. Using the ACTIVE TEST early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. It is possible to view DATA LIST information on the intelligent tester while performing ACTIVE TEST.

(a) Connect the intelligent tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
(c) Perform the ACTIVE TEST.
