DTC C1782/82 - Stop Light Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the brake pedal is depressed, the stop lights come on and the signal is sent to the STP terminal of the stabilizer control ECU.
When inspecting in test mode, the stabilizer control ECU scans changes of the signals. If there is no change, the ECU outputs the test DTC (C1782/82).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (C1380/64 FOR VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM)
(a) Check if DTC C1380/64 is output Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Result:





HINT:
- If C1380/64 besides C1782/82 is output, perform troubleshooting for the DTC C1380/64 first.
- DTC C1380/64 indicates a stop light operation relay malfunction for the Vehicle Stability Control system.

B -- REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK STOP LIGHT SWITCH OPERATION
(a) Check that the stop lights come on when the brake pedal is depressed and go off when the brake pedal is released.
OK:
Stop light switch functions normally.
NG -- INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT STABILIZER CONTROL ECU




(a) Disconnect the S35 connector from the stabilizer control ECU.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STABILIZER CONTROL ECU - J30 J/C)
OK -- REPLACE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU
4. INSPECT STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY




(a) Disconnect the S17 connector from the stop light switch assembly.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT STABILIZER CONTROL ECU




(a) Disconnect the S35 connector from the stabilizer control ECU.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (STABILIZER CONTROL ECU - BATTERY)
OK -- REPLACE STABILIZER CONTROL ECU
