DTC 74-40 - Short in Speaker Circuit

DESCRIPTION





- This circuit has a fail-safe function.

- When a short in the speaker circuit is detected, all sound outputs are stopped.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC
(a) Disconnect the S41 and S43 amplifier connectors.
(b) Clear the DTCs.
(c) Check if DTC 74-40 is output.
OK:
DTC 74-40 is not output.
NG -- REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK DTC
(a) Reconnect the S41 amplifier connector.
(b) Check if DTC 74-40 is output.
OK:
DTC 74-40 is not output.
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - BODY GROUND)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - BODY GROUND)




(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER RH




(a) Disconnect the F10 speaker connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER LH
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER RH




(a) Disconnect the R22 speaker connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE REAR SPEAKER RH
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT REAR SPEAKER LH




(a) Disconnect the R23 speaker connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE REAR SPEAKER LH
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER LH




(a) Disconnect the F11 speaker connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER LH
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER RH




(a) Disconnect the F12 speaker connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER RH
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER LH
(a) Replace the speaker with a new or normal functioning one.
(b) Reconnect the S43 amplifier connector.
(c) Reconnect all speaker connectors.
(d) Check if 74-40 is not output.
OK:
74-40 is not output.
NG -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER RH
OK -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER LH
10. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - BODY GROUND)




(a) Disconnect the S41 amplifier connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
11. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER LH




(a) Disconnect the F9 speaker connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER LH
OK -- Continue to next step.
12. INSPECT FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER




(a) Disconnect the C6 speaker connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER
OK -- Continue to next step.
13. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER LH




(a) Disconnect the B8 speaker connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER LH
OK -- Continue to next step.
14. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER RH




(a) Disconnect the B9 speaker connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER RH
OK -- REPLACE w/ BOX SPEAKER ASSEMBLY
