Oil Pump

A760H AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: OIL PUMP: INSPECTION

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the oil pump body bushing.
Standard inside diameter:
38.138 mm (1.5015 in.)
If the inside diameter is greater than the standard inside diameter, replace the oil pump body.
2. INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft bushing.
Standard inside diameter:
Front side
21.527 mm (0.8475 in.)
Rear side
32.03 mm (1.261 in.)
If the inside diameter is greater than the standard inside diameter, replace the stator shaft.
3. INSPECT CLEARANCE OF OIL PUMP ASSEMBLY

(a) Push the driven gear to one side of the body.
(b) Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.
Standard body clearance:
0.10 to 0.17 mm (0.0039 to 0.0067 in.)
If the body clearance is greater than the standard clearance, check the drive gear, the driven gear and the pump body.

(c) Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the driven gear teeth and the drive gear teeth.
Standard tip clearance:
0.070 to 0.150 mm (0.0028 to 0.0059 in.)
If the tip clearance is greater than the standard clearance, check the drive gear, the driven gear and the pump body.

(d) Using a steel straight edge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.
Standard side clearance:
0.03 to 0.05 mm (0.0012 to 0.002 in.)
If the side clearance is greater than the standard thickness, check the drive gear, the driven gear and the pump body.
(e) There are 7 different thicknesses for the drive and driven gears.
Drive and driven gears thickness:

4. INSPECT OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR ROTATION

(a) Make sure that the drive gear rotates smoothly.
(b) Remove the oil pump assembly from the torque converter.
