B2216 - Back Door Closer does not Function Normally

DESCRIPTION

HINT
"Back door" refers to the luggage compartment door.

The luggage compartment door closer consists of: 1) the luggage compartment door closer motor, which performs opener and closer operations based on signals from the main body ECU LH; 2) 2 position detection switches (LOPN, LCLS), which check the position of the closer motor; and 3) the luggage door courtesy switch (LCTY), which sends signals to start / stop the closer operation and illuminates the luggage room light. The door unlock switch (BDCY), which is built into the luggage compartment door striker, detects whether the luggage compartment door is open or closed, and transmits ON / OFF signals to the main body ECU LH.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER)

(a) Check the DATA LIST for proper functioning of the luggage compartment door closer.

Main Body ECU LH





OK:

"ON" (luggage compartment door is open / closed) appears on the screen

OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU LH
NG -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT FUSE (TRK OPN, MPX-B)

(a) Remove the TRK OPN fuse from the main body ECU LH.

(b) Remove the MPX-B fuse from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

(c) Measure the resistance of the fuses.

Standard resistance:

Below 1 Ohms

NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MAIN BODY ECU LH - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)





(a) Disconnect the PM, PL, PA and PD ECU connectors.

(b) Measure the voltage and resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard voltage:

Standard resistance










NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK AND REPLACE WIRE HARNESS (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER - MAIN BODY ECU LH)





(a) Disconnect the Y5 closer connector.

(b) Disconnect the V3 ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER MOTOR)





(a) Remove the luggage compartment door closer.

(b) Apply battery voltage to the closer motor and check operation of the motor.

OK





NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER)





(a) Remove the luggage compartment door closer.

(b) Measure the resistance of the switch terminals when the switch is operated.

Standard resistance:
