C1597/57 - Lost Communication between VGRS and EPS

DESCRIPTION

The steering control ECU receives signals from the power steering ECU via local CAN communication.

If the steering control ECU cannot receive signals from the power steering ECU correctly via local CAN communication, it will store DTC C1597/57.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEERING CONTROL ECU - POWER STEERING ECU)

(a) Disconnect the A40 steering control ECU connector.





(b) Disconnect the A23 the power steering ECU connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU

(a) Replace the power steering ECU.

(b) Check for DTCs in the steering control ECU Variable Gear Ratio Steering System.

NG -- REPLACE STEERING CONTROL ECU
