P0A1F-129 - Battery Energy Control Module

L110 HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL: HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM: P0A1F-129: Battery Energy Control Module
P0A1F-129 - Battery Energy Control Module

DESCRIPTION

The battery smart unit (battery energy control module) sends HV battery voltage information to the hybrid vehicle control ECU via serial communication.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The hybrid vehicle control ECU calculates the differences among the received HV battery voltage, boost converter voltage, and inverter voltage. If any of the differences exceed prescribed values, the hybrid vehicle control ECU determines that there is a malfunction in a battery smart unit circuit. When the hybrid vehicle control ECU detects a malfunction, it will illuminate the MIL and set a DTC.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
- Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly, take safety precautions such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.
- After disconnecting the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals. After waiting, check the voltage at the inspection point in the inverter with converter assembly. The voltage should be 0 V before beginning work.
NOTICE:
Performing the check procedures for a long time with the shift lever in the N position may cause DTC P3000-388 to be set.

HINT
- Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly.
- To determine if conditions are normal, turn the power switch on (READY), move the shift lever to the N position, and check HV battery voltage (PWR RESOURCE VB), pre-boost voltage (VL), and post-boost voltage (VH) in the data list. This check should be performed after the battery smart unit is replaced. When the system is normal, the PWR RESOURCE VB, VL, and VH values should be almost equal (voltage boosting will not occur when the shift lever is in neutral). If the difference between each voltage exceeds the values specified below, there is a malfunction in the battery smart unit.

PROCEDURE

1. REPLACE BATTERY SMART UNIT
