DESCRIPTION
The luggage compartment door closer is controlled by the power trunk opener and closer ECU. The closer motor is activated according to the switch signals in the luggage compartment door closer assembly.

PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR KEY CYLINDER)
(a) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the luggage compartment door closer.
Body No. 4 (Rear junction block ECU)
OK:
On tester screen, item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.
OK -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR KEY CYLINDER
(a) Remove the luggage compartment door key cylinder Components.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK CYLINDER Components
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU AND BODY GROUND - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR KEY CYLINDER)
(a) Disconnect the S39 cylinder connector.
(b) Disconnect the S63 ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)
4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the luggage compartment door closer.

5. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH
(a) Remove the luggage compartment door opener switch Removal.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR OPENER SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect the S38 switch connector.
(b) Disconnect the S43 motor connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY Components
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR AND BODY GROUND - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER
(a) Disconnect the S36 closer connector.
(b) Disconnect the S43 motor connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. CHECK LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER (OPERATION)
(a) Temporarily replace the luggage compartment door closer with a new or normally functioning one Removal.
(b) Check the manual luggage compartment door closer operation.
OK:
Manual luggage compartment door closer operation normal.
NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR ASSEMBLY Components
OK -- END (LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY IS DEFECTIVE)
9. INSPECT FUSE (PTL)
(a) Remove the PTL fuse from the luggage room junction block.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.
10. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the luggage compartment door closer Removal.
(b) Set the luggage compartment door closer assembly to the half-latch position.
(c) Apply battery voltage to the closer connector and check the closer operation.
OK:
NG -- REPLACE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER ASSEMBLY Components
OK -- Continue to next step.
11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (LUGGAGE CLOSER MOTOR - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR CLOSER)
(a) Disconnect the S36 closer connector.
(b) Disconnect the S43 motor connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
