Short in Front Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit - Airbag System

SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1900/73-B1903/73: Short in Front Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit

B1900/73 - Short in Front Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit
B1901/73 - Open in Front Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit
B1902/73 - Short to GRD in Front Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit
B1903/73 - Short to B+ in Front Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The front pretensioner squib RH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and the front seat outer belt assembly RH.

This circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.

These DTCs are stored when a malfunction is detected in the front pretensioner squib RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT
* Perform the simulation method by selecting "check mode" (signal check) with the Techstream Check Mode Procedure.
* After selecting "check mode" (signal check), perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the airbag system or driving the vehicle on a city or rough road Diagnosis System.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH (FRONT PRETENSIONER SQUIB RH)

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Disconnect the connector from the front seat outer belt assembly RH.

(d) Connect SST (resistance 2.1 Ohms) to connector C.

CAUTION:
Never connect the tester to the front seat outer belt assembly RH (front pretensioner squib RH) for measurement, as this may lead to a serious injury due to airbag deployment.

NOTICE:
* Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
* Insert SST straight into the terminals of the connector.

SST : 09843-18061

(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(f) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(g) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(h) Turn the engine switch off.

(i) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(j) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B1900, B1901, B1902, B1903, or 73 is not output.

HINT
Codes other than DTC B1900, B1901, B1902, B1903, and 73 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- CHECK CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY RH Removal

2. CHECK CONNECTOR

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Disconnect SST from connector C.

(d) Check that the floor wire No. 2 connector (on the front seat outer belt assembly RH side) is not damaged.

OK:

The lock button is not disengaged, or the claw of the lock is not deformed or damaged.

NG -- REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE NO. 2 (FRONT PRETENSIONER SQUIB RH CIRCUIT)

(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly.

(b) Check for a short to B+ in the circuit.

(1) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(2) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(3) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:

(c) Check for an open in the circuit.

(1) Turn the engine switch off.

(2) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(3) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

(d) Check for a short to ground in the circuit.

(1) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

(e) Check for a short in the circuit.

(1) Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector B Diagnosis System.

(2) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE FLOOR WIRE NO. 2
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Restore the released activation prevention mechanism of connector B to the original condition.

(b) Connect the connectors to the front seat outer belt assembly RH and the center airbag sensor assembly.

(c) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(d) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(e) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(f) Turn the engine switch off.

(g) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(h) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B1900, B1901, B1902, B1903, or 73 is not output.

HINT
Codes other than DTC B1900, B1901, B1902, B1903, and 73 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY Removal

OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Diagnosis System
