DESCRIPTION

When the engine switch is off and the shift lever is in P, the power seat slides rearwards when the seat belt tongue plate is disengaged from the front seat inner belt assembly LH (auto away function). Also the power seat slides forward when the seat belt tongue plate is engaged with the front seat inner belt assembly LH with the engine switch on (ACC) or on (IG), or the shift lever in P.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FRONT POWER SEAT OPERATION

(a) Check that each function of the power seat operates normally by using the front power seat switch Operation Check.

OK:

Each function of power seat operates normally by using seat switches.

NG -- GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Problem Symptoms Table
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BUCKLE SWITCH)

(a) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the seat buckle switch.

Driver Seat





OK:

On tester screen, each item changes between ON and OFF according to above chart.

NG -- INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH (for Driver Side)

(a) Replace the front power seat switch Disassembly.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK POWER SEAT POWER EASY ACCESS SYSTEM

(a) Check that the power seat power easy access system operates normally when engaging and disengaging the tongue plate of the seat belt with the shift lever in P Operation Check.

OK:

Power seat power easy access system is normal.

NG -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU

OK -- END (FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH (for Driver Side) IS DEFECTIVE)

5. INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the front seat inner belt assembly Removal.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY (for Driver Side) Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH - FRONT SEAT INNER BELT AND BODY GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the e46 switch connector.





(b) Disconnect the e54 inner belt connector.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE FRONT POWER SEAT SWITCH LH Disassembly
