Pinpoint Test C: DTC B125D:11 Or DTC B125D:15

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 117, Remote Keyless Entry and Alarm for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

The start/stop switch is hardwired to the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module and is used to either start the vehicle or switch the ignition modes. The start/stop switch has a run LED that is illuminated when ignition is switched out of the OFF mode, or the engine is started. The LED flashes as a confirmation when the Intelligent Access (IA) key programming mode is entered. The start/stop switch run LED receives voltage and ground from the RFA module.

- DTC B125D:11 (Ignition Run LED Circuit: Short To Ground) - a continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the run LED output circuit from the RFA module is shorted to ground.
- DTC B125D:15 (Ignition Run LED Circuit: Short To Battery or Open) - an on-demand DTC that sets when the run LED output circuit from the RFA module is shorted to battery or is open.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Start/stop switch
- RFA module

PINPOINT TEST C: DTC B125D:11 OR DTC B125D:15

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

-------------------------------------------------
C1 CHECK THE START/STOP SWITCH PIDs

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: RFA Module DataLogger.
- Monitor RFA module PIDs (Crk_Fact_B1 and Crk_Fact_B2) while pressing the start/stop switch.
- Do both PIDs read YES when the switch is pressed?

Yes
GO to C2.

No
REFER to Steering Column to continue diagnosis of the start/stop switch.

-------------------------------------------------
C2 CHECK THE START/STOP SWITCH RUN LED

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Start/Stop Switch C2195.
- Check the start/stop run LED between the start/stop switch C2195 pin 2, component side and the start/stop switch C2195 pin 1, component side.

- Does the run LED pass the diode check?

Yes
GO to C3.

No
INSTALL a new start/stop switch. REFER to Steering Column. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

-------------------------------------------------
C3 CHECK THE START/STOP RUN LED OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

- Connect: Start/Stop Switch C2195.
- Ignition ON.
- Disconnect: RFA Module C2153d.
- Does the start/stop switch run LED continue to remain illuminated?

Yes
REPAIR circuit CPK36 (VT/BN) for a short to voltage. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

No
GO to C4.

-------------------------------------------------
C4 CHECK THE START/STOP RUN LED OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Start/Stop Switch C2195.
- Measure the resistance between the start/stop switch C2195-2, circuit CPK36 (VT/BN), harness side and the RFA module 2153d-8, circuit CPK36 (VT/BN), harness side; and between the start/stop switch C2195-2, circuit CPK36 (VT/BN), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the start/stop switch and the RFA module; and greater than 10,000 ohms between the start/stop switch and ground?

Yes
GO to C5.

No
REPAIR the circuit for an open or short to ground. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

-------------------------------------------------
C5 CHECK FOR CORRECT RFA MODULE OPERATION

- Disconnect all the RFA module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all the RFA module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new RFA module. REFER to Body Control Systems. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
