SHIFT / SLIGHT DELAY/BUMP 3-1 COASTING
DOWNSHIFT BELOW 10 MPH (16 KM/H) BUILT ON
OR BEFORE 11/17/2009

FORD:
2010 Taurus, Flex

LINCOLN:
2010 MKS, MKT

ISSUE
Some 2010 Flex, MKS, MKT vehicles built on or before 10/18/09 and 2010 Taurus vehicles built on or before 11/17/2009 might exhibit an automatic transmission shift flare on the initial 2-3 shift after a restart, and for vehicles without Eco Boost (Non GIDI) a slight delay/bump after a 3-1 coasting downshift below 10 MPH (16 Km/h). This may be caused by the powertrain control module (PCM) calibration. A new calibration is available that will improve shift feel on initial 2-3 shift after restart and reduce the slight delay/bump after a 3-1 coasting downshift below 10 MPH (16 Km/h).

ACTION
Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 65.07 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2010.1 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
