Fig. 4 Curb Idle Speed Adjust. V8-302 engine:
1982 V8-302 WITH EFI
Refer to Tune Up Specifications chart for curb and fast idle speeds.
NOTE: No A/C-ON rpm adjustment is required.
1. Place transmission into Neutral or Park and operate engine until normal operating temperature is obtained.
2. Position A/C-Heat selector to "OFF" position.
3. Place transmission into specified gear.
4. Switch engine "OFF". Start engine and operate at 2000 rpm for 60 seconds in Neutral and allow engine idle to stabilize for approximately 15 seconds.
NOTE: Do not allow engine to idle for more than 60 seconds before checking or adjusting curb idle speed.
5. Place transmission into Drive.
6. Check and adjust curb idle speed. If adjustment is required, use saddle bracket adjusting screw as follows, Fig. 4.
a. If curb idle speed is low, switch engine "OFF" and turn screw 1 full turn clockwise and repeat steps 4 and 5 until curb idle speed is obtained.
b. If curb idle speed is high, turn screw counterclockwise until specified curb idle speed is obtained.
7. Check and adjust throttle position sensor TPS.
