GAUGE - FUEL - ERRATIC INDICATION CAUSED BY STICKING FUEL SENDER/FUEL PUMP SENDERFORD 1984 ESCORT, TEMPO, LTD, MUSTANG, T-BIRD, AND 1983 T-BIRD
LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 LYNX, TOPAZ, MARQUIS, CAPRI, COUGAR, MARK VII, CONTINENTAL AND 1983 COUGAR
Fuel senders in vehicles built prior to May 28, 1984 may cause the fuel gauge to show full or adequately full notwithstanding an empty fuel tank.
The sticking of the fuel senders/pump senders has been identified as a binding condition between the O.D. of the cross shaft and the I.D. of the case and the plate pivots.
Replace senders with certified service stock. Certified service stock will be senders built after May 28, 1984, and will be identified with a blue "X" mark on the plastic case.
