WIRING - CONNECTOR CORRODED - CAUSES ENGINE STALLS, POOR IDLE, AND POSSIBLE NO START
LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 MARK VII
Repeated engine stalling and improper idling and possible no re-start condition may be caused by corroded wires at the EEC IV wire harness connector located on the right front fender apron. This connector (C-300 in the EVTM) is underneath the coolant recovery reservoir and contains the fuel pump relay circuit (37Y) and the EEC power relay circuit (38 B/O). This connector is a part of the 14290 wiring harness.
This condition can be corrected by cleaning the wire connector and installing (soldering) new wire terminals on the corroded wires or by replacing the 14290 harness.
