Cooling Fan (27-10)

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Fan, Electro-Drive Cooling

Removal

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to 1984 Car Shop Manual, Volume F, Section 50-04.

3. Remove bolts and nuts attaching mounting brackets to radiator support (Fig. 1).

4. Disconnect electrical connector to fan.

5. Remove bolts securing hoodlatch to radiator support and position latch out of the way. Refer to 1984 Car Shop Manual, Volume B, Section 44-21.

6. Remove bolts and nuts attaching mounting brackets to fan and motor assembly (Fig. 1).

7. Remove fan and motor assembly from vehicle.


Installation

1. Position fan and motor assembly in vehicle.

2. Position mounting brackets on fan and motor assembly. Tighten nuts to 6-7 N-m (4-5 lb.ft.) (Fig. 1).
3. Install hood latch. Refer to 1984 Car Shop Manual, Volume B, Section 44-21.

4. Connect electrical connector to fan and motor assembly.

5. Position mounting brackets in vehicle. Tighten mounting bolts to 8-11 N-m (6-8 lb.ft.) (Fig. 1). Tighten mounting nuts to 6-7 N-m (4-5 lb.ft.).

6. Lower vehicle.

7. Connect battery ground cable.

Removal

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Disconnect electrical connector to sensor (Fig. 2).

3. Remove screw attaching sensor to radiator support and remove sensor (Fig. 2).

Installation

1. Install sensor assembly (Fig. 2).

2. Connect electrical connector (Fig. 2).

3. Connect battery ground cable.
