WIPER MOTOR INOPERATIVE, OR OPERATES AT ONE SPEED ONLY
Non-Depressed Park Type
1. Check linkage for binding or obstruction and repair as needed.
2. Place ignition switch in on position.
3. Slightly separate electrical connector to wiper motor to gain access to terminals, but leave harness connected to motor.
4. Connect test lamp between red wire terminal at motor and ground. If lamp does not light, check wiper system feed circuit from ignition switch.
5. Place wiper switch in low position and connect test lamp between white wire terminal at motor and ground.
6. Place wiper switch in high position and connect test lamp between blue wire terminal at motor and ground.
7. If lamp does not light in step 5 or 6, check continuity of wiper switch and wiper system wiring. Repair wiring or replace switch as needed.
8. If lamp lights in steps 5 and 6, check motor as outlined in ``Wiper Motor Current Draw Test.''
Depressed Park Type
1. Check linkage for binding or obstruction and repair as needed.
2. Disconnect electrical connector to motor brush plate and place ignition switch in on position.
3. Place wiper switch in low position and connect test lamp between yellow/red and blue/orange wire terminals in harness connector.
4. Place wiper switch in high position and connect test lamp between yellow/red and white wire terminals in harness connector.
5. If lamp does not light in step 3 or 4, check feed circuit from ignition switch, wiper switch continuity and continuity of wiring between switch and motor.
6. If lamp lights in steps 3 and 4, check motor as outlined in ``Wiper Motor Current Draw Test.''
WIPERS DO NOT PARK
When wiper switch is placed in off position with ignition on, wipers should return to a park position and stop. Non-depressed park type wipers should return to their lowest point of travel within one wipe cycle. In depressed park systems, wipers return to their lowest point of travel, then the motor reverses to park wipers in a concealed position and stops. Before checking for defective electrical components, ensure wiper arms, motor crank arm, and wiper linkage are properly installed.

Non-Depressed Type
1. Operate wipers and stop motor with arms in vertical position by turning ignition switch to off position.
2. Disconnect electrical connector to wiper motor and connect a jumper wire between black and white wire terminals on motor, Figs. 1 and 2.
3. Connect battery voltage to red wire terminal using a suitable jumper wire, and ensure motor is properly grounded.
4. If motor runs to park position and stops, check wiper switch continuity and continuity of wiring between motor and switch. Repair wiring or replace switch as needed.
5. If motor does not run to park position and stop, repair or replace motor.



Depressed Park Type
1. Ensure wiper motor operates properly in low speed, then place wiper switch in off position with wiper arms in vertical position.
2. If wipers run to depressed park position but motor does not stop, replace park switch assembly.
3. If wiper arms jam or stall when moving to depressed park position, check wiper linkage. If linkage is satisfactory, replace output arm and windlatch assembly.
4. If wipers continue to operate when switch is turned off, or if wipers return to their lowest point of travel but do not depress park, check wiper switch continuity.
5. If switch is satisfactory on two speed systems, replace motor park switch.
6. If switch is satisfactory on intermittent systems, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect electrical connectors to motor and connect ohmmeter between red wire terminal in harness connector to park switch and yellow/red wire terminal in harness connector to motor brush plate.
b. If meter indicates continuity, replace motor park switch. If meter does not indicate continuity, replace intermittent governor.
7. If wipers stop on glass when switch is turned off, connect jumper wire between motor housing and ground.
8. If wipers park properly, repair motor ground. If wipers do not park properly, proceed as follows:
a. Disconnect electrical connectors to motor and check for battery voltage at green wire terminal in harness connector to park switch.
b. If no voltage is present, check and repair feed circuit. If voltage is present, connect ohmmeter between black wire terminal in harness connector to park switch and blue wire terminal in harness connector to motor brush plate.
c. If meter does not indicate continuity, repair wiring or replace wiper switch. If meter indicates continuity, connect ohmmeter between black wire terminal on motor park switch and ground.
d. If meter does not indicate continuity, replace park switch. If meter indicates continuity, connect ohmmeter between red wire terminal in harness connector to park switch and yellow/red wire terminal in harness connector to brush plate.
e. If meter indicates continuity, replace park switch. If meter does not indicate continuity, check wiring and wiper switch.
f. If wiring and switch are satisfactory on intermittent systems, replace governor.
