Figure 4:

6. In the seat cushion frame, notice the four (4) existing sets of seat track rear attaching holes and the two (2) drill dimples (1 each side) located .84" forward of the existing seat track front attaching holes. Refer to Figure 4.
7. Carefully drill a 3/8" diameter hole at each drill dimple location (Figure 4).
WARNING: TO ENSURE PROPER SEAT TRACK TO SEAT CUSHION RETENTION, USE CARE WHEN DRILLING THE TWO (2) 3/8 INCH DIAMETER HOLES IN THE CONTINENTAL SEAT CUSHION FRAME OR THE EXISTING HOLES IN THE TAPPING PLATES (LOCATED JUST BELOW THE SHEET METAL) MAY BE DAMAGED (FIGURE 4).

^ Continental Seat Track Installation - Figure 5
^ Mark VII Seat Track Installation - Figure 6
9. Secure the seat track to the seat cushion frame using the four (4) previously removed attaching screws. For Mark VII units install the two (2) nut and washer assemblies (N800251-S2) at the front attachments. Torque the attachments to 16-27 N-m (12-20 ft.lbs.).

Figure 7:

10. Position the seat belt buckle and support assembly to the seat cushion and the seat track assembly (Figure 7).
11. Secure the seat belt buckle support assembly to the seat cushion assembly using the previously removed bolt. Torque the bolt to 7-10 N-m (5-7 ft.lbs.).
12. Install the nut used to secure the seat buckle support assembly to the seat track assembly. Torque the nut and washer assembly to 7-10 N-m (5-7 ft.lbs.). Grasp the seat belt buckle support and attempt to slide it fore and aft. If the support slides easily, no further action is required. If not, back the nut and washer assembly off one (1) turn (Figure 7).

NOTE: In order to ensure the attaching hole in the support can be aligned with the attaching hole in the floor pan, the seat buckle support bar must be free to slide fore and aft.

Figure 8:

13. Remove and re-work the front seat belt buckle support boot as shown in Figure 8.

Figure 7:

14. Install the boot on the seat belt buckle support (Figure 7).
15. If the seat is equipped with an inertia seat back latch, check the latch for proper operation (sensitivity test) before installing the seat in the vehicle as follows:
^ With the seat and track assembly positioned on a flat surface, grasp the seat cushion only and slowly tilt the seat assembly forward enough to cause the seat to tilt forward (via gravity).
^ The latch should engage at this point (11 degrees from original position) restricting the seat back from tilting to its full forward position.
16. Install the seat and track assembly in the vehicle using the previously removed screws and/or nut and washer assemblies. Refer to Group 41-08 of the appropriate 1984 Car Shop Manual.

NOTE: Torque the seat track to floor pan aftachments to 12-24 N-m (9-18 ft.lbs.).

Figure 7:

17. Secure the seat belt buckle support to the floor pan using the previously removed bolt and spacer as shown in Figure 7. Torque the attaching bolt to 20-37 ft.lbs.
