LEAKS - WATER - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT

LINCOLN-MERCURY 1984 MARK VII

Water may leak into the luggage compartment from the upper back panel between the lower edge of rear glass and deck lid due to sealer skips.

1. Remove lower back lite moulding. (See Shop Manual page 43-11-7.)

FIGURE 3:

2. Punch a hole with an awl in the upper back panel flange adjacent to the back lite and directly above the lower drain hole as shown on Figure 3. Make sure not to damage the glass.
3. Flood the upper back panel with the D6AZ-19562-A Sealer until the sealer comes out of the lower and upper drains as shown on Figure 3. Insure that the cavity is full of sealer.

NOTE: More than one tube of sealer will be required. Service only the side(s) that leak.

4. Clean up excess sealer from both drains.
5. Replace lower back lite moulding.
6. Water test vehicle to assure that the leak has been eliminated.
