Speed Control Is Inoperative
1. Blow the horn. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 2. If not found satisfactory, check horn circuit.
2. Apply brake pedal and ensure brake lights work. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 3. If not found satisfactory, check stop lamp circuit.
3. Check adjustment of throttle linkage bead chain. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 4. If not found satisfactory, service or replace throttle linkage bead chain.
4. Check to ensure proper operation of actuator lever and throttle linkage. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 5. If not found satisfactory, service or replace actuator lever and throttle linkage.
5. Check to ensure proper vacuum at actuator. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 6. If not found satisfactory, check or replace vacuum hose.
6. Perform tests on control switches and circuits. If found satisfactory proceed to step 7. If not found satisfactory, service or replace switch and circuits.
7. Perform tests on actuator. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 8. If not found satisfactory, replace actuator.
8. Perform tests on sensor. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 9. If not found satisfactory, replace sensor.
9. Perform tests on amplifier. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 10. If not found satisfactory, replace amplifier.
10. Examine all connectors to ensure proper contacts.
Speed Continuously Changes Up And Down
1. Check to ensure proper operation of actuator linkage. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 2. If not found satisfactory, service or replace actuator linkage.
2. Perform tests on actuator. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 3. If not found satisfactory, replace actuator.
3. Check operation of speedometer cable for proper routing and ensure no sharp bends or binding exists. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 4. If not found satisfactory, service or replace speedometer cable.
4. Check to ensure proper operation of sensor. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 5. If not found satisfactory, replace sensor.
5. Perform tests on amplifier. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 6. If not found satisfactory, replace amplifier.
6. Examine all connectors to ensure proper contacts.
Speed Control Operates But Does Not Accelerate Or Coast Down Properly
1. Check Set-Acc., Coast switch and slip ring circuits, and ground brush contacts. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 2. If not found satisfactory, service or replace circuit.
2. Perform tests on actuator. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 3. If not found satisfactory, replace actuator.
3. Perform tests on amplifier. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 4. If not found satisfactory, replace amplifier.
4. Examine all connectors to ensure proper contacts.
Speed Control Does Not Disengage When Brakes Are Applied
1. Apply brake pedal and ensure brake lights work. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 2. If not found satisfactory, check stop lamp circuit.
2. Check to ensure proper operation of actuator lever and throttle linkage. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 3. If not found satisfactory, service or replace actuator lever and throttle linkage.
3. Perform tests on amplifier. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 4. If not found satisfactory, replace amplifier.
4. Examine all connectors to ensure proper contacts.
Speed Gradually Increases Or Decreases After Speed Is Set
1. Check to ensure proper operation of accelerator and bead chain adjustment. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 2. If not found satisfactory, adjust or replace as necessary.
2. Perform tests on actuator. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 3. If not found satisfactory, replace actuator.
3. Perform tests on amplifier. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 4. If not found satisfactory, replace amplifier.
4. Examine all connectors to ensure proper contacts.
Speed Will Not Set In System
1. Check to ensure proper operation of throttle linkage. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 2. If not found satisfactory, adjust or replace as necessary.
2. Check to ensure proper operation of speed control switch circuit. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 3. If not found satisfactory, service or replace as necessary.
3. Check to ensure proper operation of actuator. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 4. If not found satisfactory, replace actuator.
4. Check to ensure proper operation of sensor. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 5. If not found satisfactory, replace sensor.
5. Check to ensure proper operation of amplifier. If found satisfactory, proceed to step 6. If not found satisfactory, replace amplifier.
6. Examine all connectors to ensure proper contacts.
