DS III

Distributor - Exploded View:

Operation
The distributor, Fig. 1, is used with the Electronic Engine Control (EEC III) system. The EEC system controls spark advance in response to various engine sensors. The components are a crankshaft position sensor which replaces the stator assembly and armature used on conventional distributors. Because of this the DS III distributor serves only to distribute the high voltage generated by the ignition coil to the spark plugs.
The relationship of the distributor rotor to cap is important for proper high voltage distribution in the DS III distributor. For this reason the distributor is secured to the engine and the distributor rotor positions are adjustable.
