TRIM - INTERIOR - ROOF SIDE INNER MOULDING ASSEMBLY LOOSE, IMPROPERLY SEATED OR WARPED

Article No. 88-20-02

LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1988 CONTINENTAL

ISSUE: A loose, improperly seated or warped roof side inner moulding assembly may be caused by the moulding binding at the base of the "A" pillar or improper initial installation.

ACTION: Properly secure the roof side inner moulding assembly by using the following service procedure.

FIGURE 1:

1. Remove the screw holding the roof side inner moulding assembly at the "B" pillar, Figure 1. Keep the screw for later use.

2. Unsnap the moulding assembly by starting at the "A" pillar area and work toward the "B" pillar and then back to the "C" pillar. Use Rotunda tool from kit #107-00401 and pry-up only at the base of the snap-in clips.

3. Check to see if the moulding is binding or difficult to fit at the base of the "A" pillar. Shave excess moulding material from the area of concern with a proper cutting tool.

4. Seat the roof side inner moulding assembly in place starting at the "B" pillar and work toward the front and rear of the vehicle.

5. Install the screw removed in Step 1.
