RECALL NUMBER

88S50

Date July, 1988
TO: All Lincoln-Mercury Dealers

SUBJECT: Safety recall 88S50 - 1988 Lincoln Continental Automatic Transmission Shift Control Cable Replacement
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
All 1988 Lincoln Continentals built from October 19, 1987 through May 24, 1988.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL:
The automatic transmission gear shift selector cable may become separated from a mating part. If this should happen the gear selector indicator (PRNDL) may incorrectly show the actual gear position of the transmission.

If the driver relies on an incorrect indication for transmission gear choice, unexpected car movement and personal injury could result.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The owner letter advises owners to use the parking brake when leaving the car unattended.
